Bismillahirrahmanirrahim~
Assalamualaikum w.b.t and a very pleasant evening.
Well, this is practically my first post in this blog, (im very excited). and there will be more to come, hopefully. When we talk about doing something for the first time, one major thing that will surely come to our mind is 'can i accomplish it?' 'what if it goes wrong?' 'is this the right way to do it?' -the feeling of uncertainty.
These questions that we 'ask' ourselves are the things that will gobble up our sense of confidence and the result of it would be...i think you can figured it out by yourselves. We will surely be dealing with this kind of situation as we're still being given a life by The Almighty. Going for interviews, meeting new people, involve in a project and etc, are examples of such situation. Some of the examples given like, going for interview or starting some kind of project can be classified as the situation that we 'can' actually control its outcome beforehand. The reason for that would be, we have the time to PREPARE for it, therefore we can greatly reduce the anxiety of it. We even can boost up our confidence in doing it. In other words, we wont be feeling the 'uncertainty'. Therefore, use the time that we have to smooth up the way in front of us.
However, there is another situation where its rather hard for us to overcome it, its where we have to deal with an impromptu situation. The simplest example that i can think of right now is, let's say that you're in the lecture hall and all of a sudden your lecturer ask you to give some explanation on the mechanism of muscle contraction for example, you will (or not) experience the feeling of uncomfortable and its getting stronger as you walk towards the microphone/crowds. You'll find it hard to invent the 'right' words to say something in order to break the silence as all the people put their attention upon you. However if you accidentally found the 'right' words to start explaining, you'll notice that as you speak, your anxiety will slowly 'leaves' you.
So, here's a few secrets to apprehend the difficulty in finding the 'right' words. Ok, firstly, start your words with something that has nothing to do with the 'subject' that you want to talk about, for an instance, start it with greeting your audience, talk about the weather or something, just to give you some time to gain your confidence. After gaining it, just spit it all out. The second way to do so, is by acquiring yourselves with the basic about the art of speaking by reading some books about it. Here's something that i want to share, its something that i once read in a book regarding the art of speaking. In the book it is stated that one of the easiest way to gain the 'guts' to speak out in front of a group of people and also to give a great impact on your crowds is by telling them what are you going to tell them, tell them what you wanted to tell them, and tell them what you've just told them.(try it) Next, start your words by saying things slightly loud, clear and put some rhytm to it. It'll act like magical booster that will sweep away the anxiety in you.
Actually, there are many ways to do that, but which one you'd prefer is always yours to decide. You can even developed it by yourselves and guess what, i think you'll be suprised of its outcome. Most importantly, you have to tell yourselves that 'you can do it' and if God wills, everything will be ok.
I think thats all for now, till we meet again in my next post, InsyaAllah.
